The award winning debut filmmaker “Crystal Moselle” recently revealed how the digital video sharing platforms are Beneficial to indie-filmmakers. In an interview with The Street magazine, ‘Moselle’ said that “Vimeo’s video-on demand is a great platform for filmmakers where they charge per screening and it found perfect than Netflix (NFLX) and Amazon (AMZN) “. Moselle directed and co-produced a documentary film ‘The Wolfpack’, which is distributed by Magnolia Pictures. The film has received positive response from the critics as well. Scott Foundas Of Variety magazine give reviewed in this way “There is much to enjoy in director Crystal Moselle’s debut documentary feature, which, if nothing else begs a where-are-they-now sequel a few years down the road.” The Wolfpack, won the grand jury prize at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
As compare to YouTube, Vimeo is ensuring high definition default videos. The filmmakers will get good monetary benefits by uploading the video through vimeo’s On Demand and featured advertisement (CPM). CPM means Cost Per Mile, that means the video creators get the payment when the video is showed to 1000 people and video on demand means, someone watching your video for rent, which is same as like film distribution.
Moselle said that Vimeo’s On-demand is a great platform for filmmakers and video uploaders, where they get income from per-screening. She also revealed that it is tough to make a documentary than a feature film, why because in Documentary the peoples want to see the real life in a way that feels genuine.
