NZSA Peter & Dianne Beatson Fellowship 2018 is asking for applications from the writers of drama, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction; that have a literary track record and are currently working on a new project. Each year, this annual Fellowship is awarded to senior or mid-career writers for working on projects that exhibit high levels of literary merit as well as national significance. Peter Beatson is the man behind the donation of this Fellowship. This great man has increased the fellowship stipend to $10,000 this year.
The deadline for the submission of applications is August 17th, 2018 by 4pm. Only the members of the NZ Society of Authors (PEN NZ Inc) can apply for this fellowship. The membership is open for all the established and developing writers.
NZSA also provides a mentorship programme, literary sector news, contract advice, manuscript assessment and services, representation and advocacy of writers, grants, information on publishing industry and various other opportunities, along with the affiliation to the international PEN.
Jillian Sullivan, a writer from Central Otago, was awarded this fellowship last year which enabled her working on a collection of non-fiction essays and poetry, based in Central Otago with a strong base of conservation.
