You can use these royalty free music for Short Films, Podcasts, Films, Musical albums etc. Music is a vital part of any film or video. It can be used to create a certain mood for interpreting the visuals on screen. Same visuals can have different interpretation with different music. This is because we perceive films audio-visually and in our subconscious mind audio designs how we should interpret the visuals.

If you are on a low budget, hiring a Composer for your film might be difficult. You might want some specific type of music for a certain part and you can get it from the internet (a track by your favorite artist) but as soon as you upload your video you might get a copyright violation warning. To avoid this you should use Royalty Free Music.

Royalty Free Music– It means it’s free of any royalty fees. In ccMixter is you can find tons of music that fall under the Creative Commons license. The site lets you listen to music, sample music, and more.

Here, you can find varieties of music, mostly with vocals written and recorded by Josh Woodward himself . His whole library is available for free, only you have to give him due credit on your video.

In Musopen you can find music tracks whose copyright has expired. You can search music by composer, performer, instrument, period or form. It is a great resource if you want classical music for your film/video.

PacDV- http://www.pacdv.com/

PacDV provides free music and sound effects for use in your film/video. But, you have to give them due credits by giving a link to their site while uploading your video.

According to me, all the royalty free music websites are fake. They are charging even much higher than a music director or music composer

Thanks, Mr.Dibakar Saha for this informative article. I have noted down all the website URL names mentioned here and I will visit them later to know their music collection and type of music available. I am going to produce short films and YouTube videos and these websites can help me get music for free or low cost.
Only two website links have a problem, (1) No.6 http://www.publicdomain4u.com when clicked opens http://mobygratis.com (mentioned on No.5). However when I typed the URL it opened. and (2) No.10 http://pacdv.com it is some film production company and not any music library platform like others mentioned in this article.
Please update about No.10. what is the problem.
