The Social Impact Media Awards (SIMA) is calling film entries from the talented filmmakers across the globe. The festival is running successfully since the past five years and from this year onwards they are officially opening the platform to showcase virtual reality (VR) films as well.

Addressing to the Press in London, Daniela Kon, Founder and Executive Director of SIMA said “SIMA gives us X-ray vision into the state of the world, into the movements that shape social and political climates, and the players, the trailblazers, the activists behind them. We’re excited to find out if VR is indeed an empathy machine that can change the way we participate in what’s happening.”

SIMA is accepting films in the genres of impact videos, feature-length and short-format documentaries and virtual reality (VR) films from September 8 to October 27, 2016. The Winners will be announced on February 9, 2017

In the last year, SIMA has received 1000+ submissions, were 40% of the submissions are from the female filmmakers poured in from over 140 countries.
