Why say Props Matter in Filmmaking?
In the Film Dictionary, Prop (Properties) means the tiny particles appearing on screen that are used to show the property of a character or it is used as a medium to move the story to a next level. Lets illustrate the term ‘Props’ through a small Instance- Suppose a scene where a character is lighting a Candle, here the Candle is the Props. Usually, Filmmakers didn’t give much attention to the props and always considered it as the job of filmmaker’s assistants to notice all such small things that appearing on screen . Earlier this month, Filmmakers fans featured a Video about the Importance of Doors in storytelling. Door is also an Example of Props. Here’s a Video essay made by Rishi Kaneria about the importance of Props in Filmmaking and how the props helps to enhance cinematic storytelling.
