For actors, here we explaining the real way to get an Artist Card, Fees, Getting Locations etc. The world of art and media is no doubt a charming place to be. It’s like the golden world of fairy tale books, however that is not it. No matter how charming the world seems to be from outside, it is very hard to get in, not to mention one needs to be extremely lucky. Every person who wants to be in Bollywood or struggling hard to get a chance needs to have two kinds of stuffs. One is a stunning portfolio and the other one is artist card. From just a daily wage earner or laborer or junior artist to a groundbreaking Bollywood actor, no matter what kind of job you want from the Cine industry, you need to have an artist card for safeguarding your security.

What Is An Artist Card?
An artist card is a gateway to Bollywood film industry. In Chennai, and also places like Mumbai the heart of Bollywood, this is a mandatory thing. The cost of an artist card is beteween 3,000-7,000 and it can be of two types: one is for junior artists and the other one is for senior artists. Problematically these cards are registered by authentic companies only like ‘CINTTA’, ‘Shiv Sena CHTRAPAD SHAKHA’ and so on but they cannot really guarantee any proper job. This is why you need to be extra careful about not getting into the trap of fake agencies or companies.
An Artist Card Looks Like This
Why Do You Need Artist Card:
Primarily artist card is needed as it offers a protection to an artist’s main needs like payments, working hours and so on. When a large production house requires a huge number of junior artists, the authentic organizations produce these cards. Let’s take a note of the other reasons behind getting an artist card:
- This card may be useful in particular for junior artists who do not have any professional training or who are devoid of any ambition to be the ‘super star’ in near future. Generally they don’t have dialogues or one or two perhaps. They may come from a community which sees acting as just a job to earn daily bread rather than an actual art. This is valid for people like makeup artist
- You can appeal to the union if you are a registered junior artist with an artist card in case the casting directors ask you to do overtime without any valid overtime.
- An actor with artist card and professionally trained may get better chance compared to an artist with union card holder.
Anyway this doesn’t mean that you can’t go without it since there are examples of people who had seen face of success without it. But it acts as a positive catalyst to fasten your progress.
How Can I Get Artist Card?
Since the process is quite problematic, lots of people wonder how they can get artist card. Let’s take a look at the process:
- Be cautious about the fake ones. Remember any casting director, coordinator or any production house who ask for an artist card in order to give you a role or a break in the film and also ready to issue an artist card for you is more likely to be 100% fake.
- Be careful about not paying anything in case you get a mail just after applying online with the portfolio, confirming your selection without any kind of audition. Also if they ask you to pay more than Rs. 3000 they are most likely to be cheaters.
There are some documents that you will be required which are:
- 5 copy passport size photographs
- Copy of any one of these-Pan Card, Ration Card, Driving License, Residential Proof, Voter ID Card

I am trying for my son of 3 years, I would like to know some good production houses where i can try for him. I got calls from 2-3 people they asked me for come for autditions n then they asked me to prepare the portfolio,which i did after that they have told me that my son is selected for short film n its a 2 days shoot but then they ask me to pay additional 10k for the artist card n other coordination charges. I know that artist card does not cost so much. How do i find out if they intend to just cheat me.

Sir I m from West Bengal. I m 23. I was in navy bt currently suspended dew to medically unfitness. So thts y i was looking fr some jobs bt with some moral support i decided to work on my all time dream of filmmaking nd writting by goung against family. So for tht before getting shifted in mumbai i hve to find a job first. job in industry like spot boy or ad or anything, i found an advertisement in quicker. Nd called thm. They said me to come their office at andheri west nd make the union card if i dont hve. Askd for 3000rupees,id,nd passport photos for some reality show in colors as AD starting from 22nd, goregaon film city. Should i rely on thm?
As i don’t hve higher degree besides m a naval men it will b tough for me to survive in mumbai against family without a job. Nd i want the job in industry for my drm to hve experience. Wht should i do? Please guide me.

Hey guys, I have been contacted by a man who surely said that he was a casting director and working on a project. He select me for his upcoming project for supporting role. He said that the project will be done under red films production. But i never heard about this production. Is it fake or geniune? If he really need me in his project then why he asked me for artist card? Talent doesn’t need any artist card? If this requires then why he want me to apply online fo this card? Why do his production can’t issue for me? Is it fake or geniune?

Hlo sir…i got a call from talent Promotion team saying that u r selected u need to b registered in this by paying amount of 3500rs n next day they asked me to pay security amount of 11,375rs as security amount for 1year contract the first week of shooting 9375 vl b refundable to u n also said we vl provide u with artist card in 10days.I paid the amount they ask me to pay .it’s all 1month no reply till now.is this fake are genuine.if it is fake how can I get mi money back

I had rcvd a call from one production house, they said that my son has been finalised for one ad, they did shoot some small ad, after that they say that my son is selected for some serial n i have to make a artist card – cinta, which will come to them in 5 days and the charges are 4000/-, they made me make payment from my account, but no card rcvd nor are they sending me the receipt of the same, i am calling them, but they are not picking the call, they are chatting on whatsapp but very rarely reply me, they say the shoot is postponed due to rains, please guide me what should i do,

From Balaji film city, they called me and said, u r selected for the role of lead hero’s friend without any audition……..first of all u have to pay a money 3560 rs to make artist card……and there will be free 7 days training period with living, travelling, fooding allowance…….is it true? If not then suggest me how to make a career in TV serials or in bollywood…… How much cost I have to pay to make a artist card?

Artist card is not mandatory for getting jobs in the Bollywood Film Industry. But, some casting agencies ask artist card while others not.

I want one information. In my daughter school, one person came and said he is working as freelancer for Red Carpet Advertising company. His company is looking for 68 Child artist for 13 different advertisement. He selected 19 childs including my daughter, Now he is asking for register Artist Card. Me and other parents don’t have any clue on that. Now the same person giving some agent number to make the registration complete. Please guide me, where I can verify him or his agent. sir one person asking me about artst card he selected me in pyaar tune kya kiya but without audition how he select me he ask me 5000 rupees for artist card production name ( A lost boy production ) he give me account number name vikas gupta canara bank and he said important casting director he’s name is Saurab so sir what can i do he send me shoot date 3000 rs per day. & shoot location in Mumbai.

Hi Sir, myself Md Ariph Reja, I want to become an actor in Bollywood industry. Before two days, I have done an audition for TV serial, ad film, short film, etc and they selected me. They have offered me a role duration of 2 to 4 minutes and the role agreement is valid for 4 months. They asked me for junior or senior artist card and if you have so no problem, if don’t have than you can do training here for 4 months. The company promised me to give me a senior artist card and a training certificate. The training fee is 45000.00 rs. Sir can you help me to identify that company is fraud or fake or this is the right process?

A few days back, a person walked in to my child’s school, saying he needs 40 kids in the age group of 2-8 for ads like Horlicks, Bournvita, Dettol hand wash, Tata sky and few other short films and documentaries. He asked everyone to apply for child artist card only through filmdivision. in . I went through that website but it focuses only on making of child artist card. The website directly takes you to payment page without any application form. They are charging Rs. 3640 annually and some odd Rs. 5000 for two years card. The person assured there are no auditions and whoever applies for child artist card gets selected. Does it seem like a scam?

he told me to make id card worth rs3500rs
and I had made it the next day a production house named 3 mountain association called me to sign a agreement and to pay a sum of 10000rs as security amount on 10th feb 2017

Today i got a call frm a person he called himself a freelance casting director he told me dt he was casting for a big production house movie and he wanted to cast me in a role thn he said it is very imp to hv artist card bcoz its a crime working wdout artist card and portfolio so he asked me to pay him 50000 for portfolio nd 15000 for artist card i asked him why so much for artist card thn he said you r a fresher and artist card is for rs 3000 bt coz of so many taxes it would cost 15000. He is calling me to mumbai urgently coz they r in hurry to start shooting so he wants me to done all that asap.
